Safety by design

Anonymity never removes responsibility.

Every Philia interaction protects the recipient’s right to say no, leave, or get help without explaining why.

Consent at every step

  • A question goes only to the familiar person selected by its sender.
  • A mutual match exists only when both people independently choose each other.
  • Identity and private chat stay closed until both explicitly consent.
  • Either person can report or block the other account.

Harassment prevention

Risk checks detect threats, coercion, privacy invasion, and sexual exploitation of minors. Harmful outgoing questions are rejected, harmful incoming text is hidden, reports enter a protected review queue, and rate limits reduce automated abuse.

Private chat and evidence

Ordinary matched chat uses an end-to-end encrypted peer channel and is not stored by Philia. A reporter can explicitly submit up to ten recent text messages for safety review. Images are excluded.

Adults only

Philia requires an 18+ declaration and current Terms acceptance. Stores must restrict distribution to adults. Provider checks can strengthen age assurance; self-declaration is never presented as government verification.

Immediate danger

Philia is not an emergency service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted person nearby.
